Five Day Live Workshops with Victoria and Henry Li 2013 Schedule

*minimum: 2. Due to the small class size of workshop, please reserve your seat as soon as possible.
Total Workshop Cost: $999 including 5 nights of hotel boarding*, or $799 without hotel boarding.
*The five nights are from the day before the class starts and on the day before the class ends(for period 1, for example, it will be Jan 6 to Jan 10). You will share a double-Q room with another classmate. There is a $220 extra cost if you do not want to share room with another person, or you have a non-student companion or spouse; and if you want to stay longer, there is $85 per room for 2 for each additional night.
The hotel cost covers five nights boarding with free breakfast, free wireless internet and free local shuttle service(within 5 miles).
The class fees include 5 variety catered lunches, one welcome dinner at a restaurant, 3 home-cooked dinners prepared by Victoria Li and a dinner party at the Li's house.* Basic supplies used in the workshops are provided, including a free soapstone seal you can take home for the name seal workshop. The classroom rent is also paid from the tuition fees.
*Please let us know if you have a special diet and Victoria will do her best to prepare for you.

Day One:
9:30am to 12:30pm
Chinese Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Workshop
Victoria Li, who is a former Chinese as second language teacher at university, will teach you how to write the basic strokes of Chinese calligraphy in standard/running/grass style. You will get an artist name in authentic Chinese, if you don't have one, and learn how to sign your name in Chinese calligraphy with helps from Victoria.
12:30pm to 1:30pm, Hotel Lobby or Outdoor Patio Lunch break. Lunch will be provided.
1:30am to 3:30pm, Hotel Conference Room
Henry will do a workshop on the art of Chinese seal engraving. Step by step, Henry will start you with a chisel in hand to carve your own last name or initials on a 1.5cm x 1.5cm soapstone from start to finish. The stone is provided.
4:00pm A Visit to Hsilai Temple
7pm A welcome dinner at Golden Spoon, a family favorite Chinese restaurant.
Day Two:
9:30am to 10:00am Ba Duan Jin Qigong Practice with Victoria
Landscape Painting Workshop with Henry Li 10:00am to 4:30pm Hotel Meeting Room (with one hour lunch break. Lunch will be provided.) This 6-hour workshop is designed to provide an informative hands-on experience on Chinese landscape painting. Henry's step by step explanations and live demonstrations will teach you how to paint trees, rocks, waterfalls, clouds and the moon. Henry will reveal some tricks to create texture and special effects. *Basic brush set, rice paper, ink and color are provided. You may bring your favorite brushes or purchase the exact brushes that Henry uses in the demo in class.
4:30pm to 6:30pm
A Visit to a Local Chinese Antique Shop
7pm Dinner at the Li's house with Victoria Li: Chinese noodle with Soy Bean Paste.
DAY THREE:
9:30am to 10:00 Ba Duan Jin Qigong Practice with Victoria
10:00am to 4:30pm Hotel Meeting Room (with one hour lunch break. Lunch will be provided.)
Flower and Birds Painting with Henry Li
10:00am to 4:30pm Hotel Meeting Room (with one hour lunch break. Lunch will be provided.) This 6-hour workshop will provide an enjoyable hands-on experience to the basics of CBP. You will learn how to handle the sumi ink and brush, the basic strokes and principles that will enable you to create free or spontaneous style Chinese brush painting with ease. Henry's detailed step by step explanations and live demonstrations will teach you how to paint fruits, the four gentlemen, flowers and birds. Henry will also share some tips on using the peach sap glue water.
*Basic brush set, rice paper, ink and color are provided. You may bring your favorite brushes or purchase the exact brushes that Henry uses in the demo in class.. 4:30PM Arts and Frame Depot if you have artworks for mounting with silk brocade. 7pm Dinner at the Li's house with Victoria Li: Steamed Buns with Stuffing.
DAY FOUR:
9:30am to 10:00am Qigong practice
Gongbi Painting and Dry-Mounting Workshop with Henry Li
10:00am to 3:30pm (One hour lunch break. Lunch will be provided.)
You will learn some Gongbi painting techniques on sized Xuan, which are very useful in free-style as well. In the end, Henry will go through the simple process of dry-mounting with silicone paper. You may choose one of your own paintings from last two days to mount. 4:30pm Free time for rest and replenish. 6:30PM Dinner Party at Li's Home Studio: Pot Sticker and More.
DAY FIVE:
Special Materials, Techniques with Henry Li
9:30am to 4:30pm Hotel Conference room
Workshop exploring Chinese Painting Materials and Special Techniques with Henry Li at his home studio. Chances to try more than 30 kinds of rice paper and mulberry samples, dozens of different brushes, how to use glues and alum. Special tricks and tips to create various textures.
Wet Mounting Demonstration 2:30pm - 5:30pm Li's Home Studio Henry Li will show you the traditional wet mounting process. 7pm Dinner at the Li's house with Victoria Li: Wonton Soup. How to register:
