Lesson 53: Poinsettias and French Elpes

This live workshop was recorded in France last Christmas(2016) with 20 students from all over Europe. It was a very heartwarming experience and we would like to share with everybody in our Chinese brush painting community. You will learn how to paint poinsettias and a snowy French Elpes with step-by-step demonstrations in both English and French. You might have wondered, can we paint such Western plant and scenery in CBP? Oui, trop facile. S'il vous plaît me suivre(Yes, too easy. Please follow me). 

 

Assignments

1)Paint Poinsettia on rice paper or greeting cards.

Please study the basic shape and grouping of poinsettia leaves and try to paint them in calligraphic brush stroke. You copy some poinsettias greeting cards as practice of composition, and then create a spontaneous style painting with poinsettias on rice paper. 

2) Try to paint a winter landscape with snowy mountains with light ink tones by saving the white paper for the ice or snow.  

 

Diagrams and finished paintings seen in the video are included in the handouts.
