This unsized Chinese rice paper is hand-made with high quality cotton fibers. Perfect for Sumi-e or Chinese brush painting, and also good for calligraphy.  Creamy white, soft yet firm, the cotton single Xuan is absorbs but does not smear as much as the traditional raw Xuan paper. It takes both traditional Chinese painting colors and Western watercolor paints very smoothly. It is ideal for spontaneous Chinese painting, where multiple layers of color or ink can be applied without leaving obvious watermark between brush strokes. Good for both landscape and flower-and-birds paintings.  

PH neutral and archival, resistant to aging and worms, it has been a "imperial tributary"(Gong) Xuan paper  for a thousand years.
