Mulberry Paper #1 Pi/Kozo Paper - 30 Small Sheets (15x19) - 27gsm.

Made of mulberry tree leaves and inner bark, Mulberry Paper #1 is also called PI paper in China or Kozo paper in Japan. In 27gsm thickness, this paper has a smoother and finer texture than #2. It is PH neutral and archival, making it a durable choice for a wide range of art and craft projects. The semi-sized absorbency of this paper means that it smears less than Xuan paper while remaining soft and strong like a fabric.

This mulberry paper is suitable for use with most water-based art media, including watercolors and fluid acrylics, if you like your color to bleed through the paper to show color vibrancy. It is appropriate for painting landscapes, animals, birds, and flowers, among other subjects. Mulberry Paper #1 is perfect for Sumi-e or Chinese brush painting, calligraphy, mounting, rubbing, stamping, kite, lantern, window covering, collage, and more.

Each sheet measures 15"x19" (38cm x 48cm) and weighs 27gsm. This package includes 30 cut pieces of mulberry paper.

I had trouble finding a thick enough rice or mulberry paper from different local stores and online, and then I found Blue Heron Arts mulberry paper. I can use it for ink. I can use it for watercolor, acrylic ink, pencil, pen, and even all sorts of collage. Yet, it doesn't weigh much, but it is durable. Thank you, Blue Heron Arts!

If you haven’t tried mulberry paper, you should. It has a good slightly rough quality and the fibers in the paper give characters interesting depth. Holds up to wet brushing in characters: no worries about bleeding out. You can refine your stroke edging practice with this kind of paper.
