(*To join Henry Li's online Chinese brush painting class, please click here . )

This field sketch was done at the Crown Pointe, Columbia River Gorge, Portland, OR on July 19, 2014. You will see how I have developed it into a landscape painting in a workshop setting. This lesson also includes several paintings inspired by the great water falls along the Columbia River Gorge. Henry also did an music painting with acrylic on canvas in tune with Victoria's Chinese zither "High Mountain Flowing Water".

Video Length: 1.7 Hours

Assignments:

1. Assignments

1) Paint a Columbia River Gorge painting with reference to Henry's sketch and the photography, in any Chinese landscape painting style and techniques that your have learned in the previous classes and in this lesson.

2) Paint a waterfall painting based on the inspiration of Multnomah Falls and the sample painting in this lesson. Try to paint 50% of what you try to express with ink and water only while listening to the High Mountain Flowing Water music in about 6-7 minutes. You may add necessary details and apply colors after that but do not over work - stop at 70% of what you think it is finished!
