Ready-to-paint metallic silk cards made from our popular paper-backed silk, factory-mounted onto sturdy white-gloss cardstock. Each soft card measures 27 × 24 cm (approx. 9½" × 10½") and comes in two elegant finishes—Yellow Gold (YG) and White Silver (WS)—perfect for Gongbi, Chinoiserie, boneless floral work, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic panels. Sold in packs of 5 cards, shipped flat (not rolled).

Product Information

Bring the luminous look of traditional silk painting into a convenient, ready-to-use format.
These Pre-mounted Paper-backed Silk Soft Cards use the same gelatin-free, hard-sized, non-absorbent silk as our Paper-backed Silk for Gongbi Chinoiserie rolls, now permanently mounted onto heavyweight cardstock for extra support and easy framing.

Surface & Construction

Front: Metallic paper-backed silk, gelatin-free and hard-sized to control bleeding and keep lines crisp—ideal for fine Gongbi, Chinoiserie details, boneless (mogu) washes, and mixed media.

Back: Smooth white-gloss cardstock (approx. 100 lb) that acts as a built-in backing board—sturdy enough for direct framing or mailing as a card.

Overall feel: A “soft” painting surface on top with a firm, flat support underneath, so you can paint without additional mounting or taping.

Size & Color Options

Card size: 27 cm × 24 cm (approx. 9½" × 10½")

Pack size: Sold in sets of 5 cards

Available colors:

Yellow Gold (YG): Warm, classical gold suitable for auspicious themes, birds-and-flowers, and festival pieces.

White Silver (WS): Cool, pearly white-silver that works beautifully with delicate florals, winter scenes, and modern minimal designs.

Recommended Uses

Gongbi fine-line florals, birds, and insects

Chinoiserie decorative panels

Boneless (mogu) flower painting and layered watercolor

Seasonal or New Year greeting cards

Small calligraphy or poem panels on metallic ground

Watercolor, gouache, or acrylic “fusion” or Art Deco-inspired styles

Class projects and workshop demos where a pre-mounted support saves time

The non-absorbent silk sizing allows you to build smooth gradients, controlled washes, and sharp ink lines without feathering. It works well with Chinese watercolor, ink, gouache, light acrylic accents, and masking fluid.

How These Soft Cards Differ from Our Silk Paper Rolls

Compared with the Paper-backed Silk for Gongbi Chinoiserie rolls (sold by the yard or full roll in multiple metallic colors), these cards offer a different working experience.

Format & Support

Soft Cards: Pre-cut, pre-mounted onto stiff white-gloss cardstock—no extra backing or mounting needed; ready to paint, sign, and frame.

Rolls: Flexible paper-backed silk in 13.5" and 27.5" widths, supplied by yard or full roll, intended for custom cutting, scroll mounting, wallpaper panels, or larger compositions.

Rigidity & Shipping

Soft Cards: Too stiff to roll—sold and shipped flat in 5-card packs, protected by boards or mailers.

Rolls: Can be rolled for shipping and storage, then cut and mounted as desired.

Usage Scenario

Soft Cards: Best for small finished works, greeting cards, gifts, and class exercises where you want immediate, presentation-ready pieces.

Rolls: Better for large scrolls, long horizontal compositions, wallpaper, or studio work where you need continuous yardage.

Color Range

Soft Cards: Currently in two tones – Yellow Gold (YG) and White Silver (WS).

Rolls: Offered in a broader palette of metallic finishes, including White Gold, Antique Gold, Rose Gold, Lemon Gold, and Green Gold, in addition to YG and WS.

Packaging & Care

Shipped flat; please store horizontally to keep the silk surface pristine.

Avoid touching the silk surface with oily fingers; use baby powder with a cotton ball to treat the surface if beading happens.

Adding a small drop of alcohol to the brush tip before painting can help deliver oily ink smoothly on the metallic silk surface.
